Where Plants are at the Heart of What We Do

Here at Petals our focus is plants, we aim to offer our customers the widest range of high quality, interesting, new, enchanting and inspiring plants. The wealth of plant species and varieties we have to choose from is astounding and we try to select the best UK horticulture has to offer for our customers enjoyment.

Shrubs we have a comprehensive range of shrubs to suit every taste, size of garden and requirement. Topical shrubs can be found on our beautiful gabion displays whilst the main body of plants are conveniently arranged in an A-Z format with tempting selections highlighted on the ends of each bench. We aim to offer brand new exciting varieties through the season, plus unusual genus and species alongside more familiar popular favourites. From Hydrangeas to Viburnums, Abelias to Sambucus, Itea to Hoheria our range is stunning and well worth viewing.

Climberss these glorious, versatile group of plants are invaluable to every gardener and our range offers something to all. From traditional favourites such as Honeysuckles and Jasmines to unusual gems such as Sollya and Billardieria our selection is superb. Clematis play a pivotal role in our climber area and we are proud to offer a stunning collection of the very best varieties and species, including many new tempting introductions.

Roses we are very proud of our Rose selection at Petals, each year we increase our range of varieties and this Autumn will be no different when almost 1000 roses will be potted by hand by our plants team. Exciting introductions for Autumn 2011 and the 2012 season include English Rose 'Winchester Cathedral', Climber 'Celine Forrestier', Rambler 'Belvedere' Hybrid Musk 'Daybreak', Rugosa 'Belle Poitvine' and many more.

Perennials our perennials occupy perhaps the most stunning area of our nursery where they can be found beneath the elegant branches of an imposing, mature Horse Chestnut tree. With magnificent views of the Sussex countryside in the background this area is beautiful to behold.

Again we aim to provide a comprehensive range of perennials with popular cottage garden varieties alongside new introductions and many unusual genus. Epimediums, Hostas, Geraniums, Ligularia, Dicentra, Scabiosa and Helenium are just a few of the glorious plants we have for you to enjoy.

Alpines alongside our alpine plants for sale you will see an example of how this plant group can be used to their full advantage. Our large display rockery is a glorious mass of colour with Phlox, Aubretia, Pulsatilla, Lithodora, Daphne, Sedums and many more each putting on a glorious show through the seasons. Alpines are versatile little plants suited to borders or containers and the selection on offer highlights their beauty and appeal.

Ornamental Trees a stunning selection of elegant trees each chosen for their specific attributes of beautiful flowers, colourful bark, attractive foliage or seasonal interest. There is a tree to suit evry size and type of garden and our collection includes Sorbus, Prunus, Malus, Amelanchier, Betula, Pyrus, Liquidambar, Craetagus, Cercis, Catalpa and many more.

Conifers year round colour, shape and form, Conifers are the perfect plants for varied and interesting gardens. At petals we stock a fantatsic range from dwarf forms up to elegant confierous trees and our Conifer bench is layed out to show the plants at their very best with complimenting colours and forms. Size and height is a major consideration when planting with Conifers so we display our plants in two sections accorded by height - section one dwarf and small conifers up to 3ft, section two conifers which grow to 4ft high and over.

Soft Fruit we have a great range Soft Fruit to suit evry gardeners taste including raspberries, blackcurrants, blueberries, redcurrants, blackberries, gooseberries, kiwis, grapes and more.

Fruit Trees Petals fruit trees offer something for everyone with a carefully selected collection of gorgeous apples, pears, cherries, plums, gages, damsons, apricots, necterines and peaches. Each year we try to select varieties which are proven to grow and fruit successfully in gardens and in most cases our trees are self fertile. We also stock a range of fruit forms (ie: fans, espaliers, stepovers) and each variety is available in range of rootstocks (dwarf, semi dwarf, vigorous etc) to give our customers the best choice of tree size for their garden.

Our plants team have an excellent knowledge of fruit trees and will be able to advise you on varieties, tree forms and rootstocks.

Ferns and Grasses fantastic architectural plants whose diversity of form, colour and use is often much understimated. These glorious plant groups offer colour, shape, beauty and interest to a wide range of soils, sites and aspects.

Bedding a gorgeous display of seasonal interest bedding can be found in and around our impressive glasshouse. Our comprehensive range includes plants ideal for hanging baskets, borders and containers with popular genus such as Surfinias, Petunias, Geraniums, Fuchsia, Felicia, Bacopa and so many more represented in a splash of enchanting colours.
